KNAW Event: Ethics & participatory research: inspiration and creative  reflection on everyday ethical issue

The ethics co-laboratory: practising slow ethics for participatory research

by Sarah Banks (England)

This presentation will introduce the concept and practice of the ethics co-laboratory (e-co-lab) developed by the Ethics Working group of the International Collaboration for Participatory Health Research (ICPHR). It will consider the value of working in a group of peers to explain the micro, meso and macro aspects of case examples from members’ participatory research, and the role of the e-co-lab in enhancing our capabilities and confidence in ethical vigilance, ethical reasoning and ethical action. We will discuss the meaning and value of ‘slow ethics’ and the concept of ‘ethics work’ in the context of participatory research for social justice.

Het KNAW Event ‘Ethics & participatory research: inspiration and creative  reflection on everyday ethical issue’ is onderdeel van de Dutch ethics & Participatory Research Week 2025.
